How many young fashion students have spent their days and nights dreaming of one day creating their own fashion label with their best friend? We’re going to guess, a lot. With high hopes and lots of ‘someday’ moments, this was in fact a dream, that one day came true for university students and best friends, Becky Cooper and Bridget Yorston.

Now, 18 years later, and here they are. The talented duo behind Australian fashion label Bec & Bridge come from humble beginnings, spending their days working on uni assignments together whilst planning their future in the fashion industry.

The Beginning

The best friends forged a friendship and a credibler, working relationship, before founding their now eponymous label in 2003. Way back when, they state working long hours and doing everything alone between the two of them, was the making of what they have now. As young and motivated women, Bridget notes that their resilience made the hard work seem easier than it actually was. Starting with revamping a friends pair of old jeans, to selling 200 pairs to a store, to David Jones approaching them – the rest is history.

The Bec & Bridge Difference

The women state that the Bec & Bridge point of difference is that they actually design and product 95% of their intricate pieces in Australia. Unlike many other brands, this allows for them “keep a tight rein on production quality and build strong relationships with manufacturers”. The attention to detail is something that has never fallen by the wayside as the brand has grown, with countless collections synonymous with colour, prints and playful chic.

Creativity & Inspiration

With a strong focus and creative inspiration drawn from era’s gone by, the 70’s and the 90’s has taken centre stage in a lot of collections from the brand. Using women from this era as their muses, the bodycon minis, cowl neck slip dresses and balloon sleeve shifts are the perfect nod to classic fashion trends that will never go out of style.

The B&B Woman

Featuring feminine silhouettes, vivid bold prints and sleek hemlines, it has since become a prominent globetrotting fashion favourite of celebrities and influencers, everywhere. Popular with a wide demographic of all ages, it’s not hard to see why the women of the world have taken the brand into their hearts, and placed them firmly into their wardrobe.
