Who is Style Theory?
Style Theory is an Australian owned boutique changing the way Australian women wear designer dresses for every experience. Get styled by Style Theory to look stunning for your friend’s wedding, elegant for your next formal and sophisticated for your next night out.
From race day dresses to elegant floor sweeping gowns, we have you covered for all your special events all year round. We are changing the way designer dresses are made available to everyone to hire for a small percentage of the retail cost. Simply rent a dress along with the perfect accessories and we will deliver directly to your door anywhere in Australia.

Does Style Theory have a physical store?
There are two options to rent from us. Either rent online anywhere in Australia or rent directly from our Melbourne store.
To rent online:
- Find It: Search our selection by filtering by colour, length and trends which means that you will find the best look.
- Reserve It: Choose a delivery and return date, the choice is to hire for 4 days or 8 days.
- Receive It: The dress will be shipped out via Australian Express Post to your home or office on your delivery date selected.
- Return It: Returns are free! Simply place the dress in the provided pre-paid satchel and return it to your nearest Post Office. Don’t worry about dry-cleaning – we’ll take care of that for you.
To rent in store:
- Visit our store: 245 Chapel Street, Prahran 3181.
- Book a 30 minute styling session or just walk in during our opening hours.
- Reserve it: Leave with the perfect dress on the same-day or reserve your favourite style for a future event.
- Return it: Return your dress to our Melbourne store by Monday 5pm, each additional day will incur a $30 AUD late fee.

How does the Style Theory rental process work?
There are two options to rent from us. Either rent online anywhere in Australia or rent directly from our Melbourne store.
To rent online:

What is the condition of the dress when I receive it?
All our designer dresses are dry-cleaned after every single use, so your dress will arrive in perfect condition.
Do I need to dry clean the dress before returning it?
No, we’ll take care of the dry cleaning for you.
Simply place the dress in the provided pre-paid satchel and return it to your nearest Post Office.
What happens if I damage the dress?
We understand that some wear and tear may be unavoidable so we provide a free $50 accidental damage insurance to allow for any minor mishaps.
If your dress gets lost, stolen or damaged beyond repair, you will be liable to pay for the retail price of the item as listed on our website.
What happens if I'm not in love with my dress when it arrives?
It can be stressful not knowing if a dress will fit or suit you once you try it on. We offer a try on service to our customers.
Please email hello@styletheory.com.au to request a try on service. Once orders are shipped there is no refund or exchange offered so please make sure you try on the style before making a booking.
- If you live near our Melbourne store stop by and walk out with a new dress (no appointment necessary).
Deliveries
Do you ship Australia wide?
Yes, we do! We deliver directly to your front door anywhere in Australia including residential, P.O Boxes and business addresses.
How much does delivery cost?
Our delivery fee is $15 each way anywhere in Australia (excluding NT and WA). That’s $15 to ship your dress to you, and $15 to return it to us using the included pre-paid satchel.
You can also mix and match - for example, have your dress shipped to you and return it in-store, or pick it up in-store and post it back.
For orders to the Northern Territory and Western Australia, the delivery fee is $50 total, which includes both sending the dress to you and the return back to our Melbourne store.

How long will delivery take?
The estimated standard delivery time is 1-2 business days – depending on your location.
If you are outside the next day delivery network it make take up to to 3 business days to reach you.
Please book your dress in according to your delivery network.
Please refer to our Terms & Conditions for details on potential delays or issues that may arise during shipping.
What if I need the dress tomorrow?
Orders placed before 11am AEST Monday – Friday will be shipped out that day.
If you are based around Melbourne, we recommend collecting your order from our Prahran Flagship store to avoid delays caused by shipping.
How can I track my order?
Once your order has been shipped, you will receive a shipping fulfillment notification from Shopify containing your tracking number. This will allow you to follow your package and see when it’s on its way to you.
Do I have to sign when my order gets delivered?
No, you don’t personally have to sign for the package. Anyone at the address at the time of delivery can sign on your behalf.
What happens if I am out when you deliver?
Australia Post will either leave it at the closest post office for you to pick up later, or they can leave it at your door.
If you would like them to leave your package at your front door, please let us know in the ‘Additional Notes’ section at the checkout page.
What happens if my dress doesn't arrive within the specified delivery time?
Style Theory recommends selecting a rental start date 1–2 days before your event to help ensure your order arrives on time.
All orders are shipped out Tuesday to Friday during business hours allowing two days to get to you.
We highly recommend customers to use a home address and NOT a work address. If no one is home your order will then be redirected to your local post office for collection.
In the rare case that your dress doesn’t arrive within the specified delivery time, please email us immediately on hello@styletheory.com.au

Returns
How do I return my dress to Style Theory?
Simply place the dress in the prepaid express return satchel and drop it at your nearest Post Office or the yellow express post box by 5pm on your 4th or 8th day of hire.
(Your exact return date will be listed on the card included in your delivery).

Are there any late fees if I return the dress late?
We do rely on customers to return our dresses on time so that we can continue to fulfil orders for all our customers.
If you do return the dress late, unfortunately another customer may miss out so please make sure this is returned by the date.
Please email us at hello@styletheory.com.au if you are unable to return the item by the scheduled day of return. We will help assist you in getting the dress back to us on time.
If you return your rental items late, a fee of $30 per day will be charged to the credit card you provided on your order.
What if my rental ends on a Sunday or a Public Holiday?
Although Australia Post is closed Sundays and public holidays, you can still take your return package to your nearest yellow express postal box. Your package will be sent back to us the following business day.
What if my rental ends on a Sunday or a Monday, when the store is closed?
As our Prahran store is closed on Sundays and Mondays, our team will let you know at collection when to return your rental, ensuring you won’t incur any late fees.

How do I create an account?
Simply go to the account icon (top-right corner) to create your account for free.
My Order
How do I order online?
Browse through our collection of designer dresses and gowns.
Pick your favourite dress in your desired size and rental dates, and it will be delivered to your door anywhere in Australia.
How long is your rental period?
Our rental period options are either 4 day or 8 day reservations.
We recommend you book your order to arrive 1-2 days prior to your event to ensure you have plenty of time to get your perfect look.
Your 4 days could look like.
Day 1 – Receive your dress and try it on.
Day 2 – Accessorize and find the right shoes to wear with the dress.
Day 3 – Wear it (and flaunt it) at your event.
Day 4 – Return your rental dress to your nearest post office by 5pm.
When should I make the reservation for a dress hire?
We recommend you set your rental date for 1 – 2 days prior to your event.
How can I cancel my order?

Please note we only offer store credits.
For all cancellations there is a $30 cancelation fee.
